Who we are

Entropix is a young biotechnology business with decades of experience. The Company was founded in 2021 by Dr Rob Rule (CEO) and Prof Dave Hornby (CSO).

 

Rob has more than 30 years’ experience in industry including board level roles in several sectors including automotive engineering, food and beverage and blue-chip chemicals/plastics companies.  Along with his general industry leadership skills, he has particular expertise in business development, technology commercialisation, IP protection and exploitation and early-stage technology development and investment (including an IPO on AIM).

Dave has gained an international reputation in nucleic acid enzymology: he was recently elected as Emeritus Professor of Biochemistry in the School of Biosciences at the University of Sheffield. Dave has combined fundamental and translational research throughout his 40-year academic career, working closely with the Biotechnology sector in Europe and the USA.

James Florence brings contemporary coding skills and and molecular biology skills to the team. A First Class Honours graduate of the University of Sheffield Department of Molecular Biology, combined with a PhD project in protein engineering, James is leading on integrating our in silico strategy with automation of our DIrected Evolution Pipeline.

Entropix is based at the Sci-Tech Campus at Daresbury in Cheshire, an internationally-recognised centre for science and innovation and now also a thriving hub of early-stage technology businesses and research centres.
